The Administrator of the Asia Cup is the Asian Cricket Council. The first edition of the Asia Cup was held in 1984 in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. India is the most successful team in the Asia Cup winning the title 7 times winning 6 One Day International formats and 1 T20I format. The second most successful team in the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka with 6 titles to its name. The Sri Lankan team has played the most number of Asia Cups (14) and is followed by India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh who have played (13). It was on the evening of 11 September 2022 when the final of Asia Cup 2022 was played between the 2 teams which were Sri Lanka and Pakistan. So the match began at 7:30 pm on Sunday in which Pakistan had won the toss and elected to bowl first putting Sri Lanka into the batting. The match was played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. Sri Lanka batting first posted 170 runs in their quota of 20 overs asking Pakistan to chase down the score to win the Asia Cup 2022.

The final of the Asia Cup 2022 was held on Sunday 11 September 2022 in which Pakistan won the toss and asked Sri Lanka to bat first. The Sri Lankan team coming out to bat first didn’t have the best of the starts they would have wanted and they lost their first wicket in the very first over opener Kusal Mendis was out bowled by Naseem Shah on the third ball of the first over (Kusal Mendis (0)). The Pakistan team bowled very well and reduced Sri Lanka to 58 for 5 between 8.5 overs putting the team on to backfoot and after that, it was all Sri Lanka in the game completely dominating Pakistan. After 58 for 5 then the innings were built by Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Wanindu Hasaranga getting a partnership of 58 runs in which Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 71 from 45 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes and Wanindu Hasaranga scored 36 off 21 deliveries including 5 fours and 1 six. For Pakistan, the pick of the bowlers was Haris Rauf picking up 3 crucial wickets in his limited 4 overs giving away only 29 runs, and Shadab Khan and Naseem Shah got 1 wicket each. Then in the second innings of the match, Pakistan chasing the target of 171didnt had a good start losing their opener Babar Azam for 5 and Fakhar Zaman for 0 in the fourth over by Pramod Madushan.
