The women’s Asia Cup or Asian Cricket Council Women’s Asia Cup is a tournament that is played in different formats of the game of cricket such as T20I format and ODI format. This is a multi-nation tournament comprising the countries of Asia only. The tournament was started in 2004. The first tournament was played in Colombo and Candy in Sri Lanka. In the year 2012, the first-ever Asia Cup was played in the T20 format. India won the first edition of the Asia Cup. India is the current Asia Cup champions and has clinched 7 Asia Cup titles the most runs scored in the marquee tournament is by former Indian Team member Mithali Raj (588 runs) and the most number of wickets taken by Neetu David took 26 wickets. The women’s Asia Cup 2022 was played in Sylhet Bangladesh in the month of October 2022 and India won the title convincingly beating Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in a low-scoring game. The final was played at the Sylhet International Stadium. The Sri Lankan team had won the toss and elected to bat first. The Sri Lankan batting failed miserably and the entire team was bundled out for a low score of 65/9 in their allotted 20 overs. There were only 2 batsmen to get into the double digits and they are Oshadi Ranasinghe who scored 13 runs off 20 deliveries and the other batsman was Inoka Ranaweera who scored 18 runs off 22 deliveries. For India, there were many picks of the bowlers such as Renuka Singh (3 overs 1 maiden 5 runs conceded and grabbed 3 wickets) then it was Sneh Rana (4 overs 13 runs conceded and grabbed 2 wickets) and the last one was Rajeshwari Gayakwad (4 overs 16 runs conceded and grabbed 2 wickets).

Then the Indian team came into bat chasing the target of 66 runs they got a good start losing their first wicket for the score of 32 runs in 3.4 overs. The first one to be dismissed was Shafali Verma scoring 5 runs off 8 deliveries and then she was followed by Jemimah Rodrigues and who scored 2 runs off 4 deliveries and after that, it was all India. The target was chased very comfortably India only lost 2 wickets and the top scorer was Smriti Mandhana scoring 51 off 25 deliveries. For Sri Lanka, the pick of the bowlers was Inoka Ranaweera who took one wicket in his 3 overs and gave away only 17 runs.
