Suryakumar Yadav elaborates on his name Suryakumar Ashok Yadav an International cricketer who plays for India in the short formats of the game such as ODIs and T20Is. He was born on 14 September 1990 and is from Mumbai, Maharashtra he also represents the Mumbai Indians team in the IPL. Yadav was ranked Number.1 in the ICC Rankings for T20I batsmen on 1 November 2022. He is a right-handed batsman who usually plays in the middle order and is also given the nickname “SKY” which suits him well as he has the ability to hit the ball hard and send it to every part of the ground.

Yadav is from Uttar Pradesh from a place called Hathouda which is in Ghazipur. After some time his father shifted from Ghazipur to Mumbai to work at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. By that time Yadav was only 10 years old. He learned to play cricket on the streets of Varanasi. When he was 10 years old his father saw his interest growing in the game of cricket and then his father registered his name in the BARC Colony in Anushakti Nagar. Later Yadav went to the Elf Vengsarkar Academy and played age-group cricket in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Elf Vengasarkar Academy is a former Indian cricketer’s academy.

He is also an Alumnus of Pillai College of Arts, Science, and Commerce. He married Devisha Shetty on 7 July 2016.

Career: Domestic Cricket Participation

He has played cricket for various clubs such as Parsi Gymkhana Club in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Shivaji Park Gymkhana Club, and Dadar Union Club.

His first appearance in the first class was for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy where he scored 73 runs. During the 2011-2012 Ranji Trophy season he was the leading runs scorer for Mumbai with 734 runs in the 9 games that he played and also scored a double century against the Odisha Cricket Team in the 3rd match.

In Domestic cricket, he has played for India Red, Mumbai A, West Zone, India Blue, India Under 23, India A, and India C in International Junior Cricket. Yadav captained Mumbai Team in the year 2020-2021 in the Syed Mushtaq Alli Trophy.

In the month of 2021, he was selected for the T20 squad which was to play the T20 series against England. It was his first appearance in the Indian cricket team. He played his first T20I against England on 14 March 2021. On 18 March 2021, he was given the opportunity to bat and he hit his first delivery for a six in the international game he was the first Indian to do that in a T20 game and went on to score his maiden half-century. Then he was selected for the ODI series against England. Then because of his good performance at number3, his captain described him as an X-factor. In the month of July 2022, he scored his maiden T20 century against the English team he scored 117 from 55 deliveries. He is the 5th Indian to score a century in T20Is and is only the second player to score a century batting at number.4 or lower down the order. He is also the fastest batsman to score 1000 runs in T20 cricket and took only 573 deliveries to do so.

Recently the Indian team lost in the semi-final against England by 10 wickets. Talking about Suryakumar Yadav’s world cup 2022 campaign he scored 4th fastest half-century by any Indian and it was also his first at a T20 World Cup and took only 25 balls to do so. He scored it against the Netherlands at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Australia.

Indian Premiere League Career

He was bought by the Mumbai Indians in the 2012 season. He got in the only game that he played during the entire season without troubling the scorers. In the 2014 IPL Auctions, he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders and got some fame because of a match-winning knock that he played against the Mumbai Indians where he scored 46 runs off 20 deliveries with 5 sixes at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. He became the vice-captain for the side and played regularly for the team.

In the 2018 IPL Auctions, he was bought by Mumbai Indians at a whopping price of Rs.3.2 crore (400,000 US Dollars). He was ruled out of the IPL 2022 due to an injury in the left forearm.
